The development located at 6121 Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, California, was the home of CBS’s Los Angeles radio and television operations from 1938 until 2007. The Square’s original configuration included eight studios. Studios 1 through 4 are to the left of the main entrance. Upstairs were Studios 5 through 7 and at the rear of the forecourt was the large auditorium referred to as the “Columbia Playhouse” that seated 1050 patrons. The overall redevelopment concept was to entitle the balance of the property, preserving the historical existing uses with 350,000 sf of new office, 60,000 sf of new retail, a 125-key boutique hotel, and 280 residential units, including 60 live/work units.
